§ 42-183. Color scheme, permanent paint, and markings.

Latest version.
  • All taxicab companies shall adopt a separate color scheme for painting of the cabs distinct from that of any other cab company. The name of the taxicab company, the taxicab number and the telephone number shall be painted with permanent paint on both sides of each cab with letters and numbers at least four inches high or greater on the sides, and with a four-inch-high, or greater, cab number on the rear. Colors of paint to be used for lettering and numbers shall be of sharp contrast with the color of the surface paint to which it is applied, so as to be evenly visible at a reasonable distance, especially at nighttime with street lights. No lettering or numbers shall be acceptable which have been painted upon a sheet of metal or other material which in turn can be removed or detached to conceal the identification of such taxicab, or limousine, company and taxicab number. The color scheme shall be approved by the inspector.
