§ 10-343. Records.

  • (a)

    Every junk dealer doing business in the city shall record daily, in a book kept for that purpose, a sufficient description of each article purchased or acquired by such dealer, together with the date and hour of such purchase and the name, age and residence of the seller, and the party to whom the junk was sold. Entries in such book shall be made in indelible ink or indelible pencil and in the English language. No entry in such book shall be changed, erased, obliterated or defaced.

    (b)

    Whenever a junk dealer shall purchase or otherwise acquire a motor vehicle or any part thereof he shall, in addition to the other requirements in subsection (a) of this section, enter in such book a sufficient description of the person from whom such was purchased or acquired and a complete description of the motor vehicle or motor vehicle part, which description shall include the trade name, motor and other serial numbers, body style, model and color, and license number.
