§ 10-226. Records kept; articles to remain for 60 days before resale.

  • (a)

    Each pawnbroker shall keep in his shop, a book in which shall be written at the time of every pledge or purchase, a description of the article, including the serial number, if any, so pledged or purchased, with the name, age and residence of the person from whom received, and the day and hour when such pledge or purchase was made. This book shall be open to the inspection of the city manager, mayor and the chief of police, or any person duly authorized by them, or any one of them to inspect the same at all reasonable times.

    (b)

    No pawnbroker shall sell or offer for sale any articles of personal property previously purchased by him for resale until the same shall have remained for 60 days in his possession from the date of the purchase.

    (c)

    This section shall not apply to purchases made by such pawnbroker from wholesalers, manufacturing companies and distributors.
